I hope I get to make these as a job soon. Come on Coffee Bean, get back at me.

I’ve found myself trying to hold onto that feeling every time the season rolls around; trying to keep that child-like whimsy; to remain inspired by the (corny as it sounds) “Christmas spirit” all year round; to be excited for Christmas day, and not be sadly let down by my built-up expectations.
So I’ve found that this is the best kind of excitement for the future: currently, I don’t have many definitive plans or expectations for it, but that’s what makes it so great, because I trust God has great plans for it.
Recently, I’ve been faced with the stark possibility that I may not make it into the music composition program at my university (which will happen or not once I finish my composition portfolio this school year and get judged on it). So my plan for the last three years to become a composer of classical music may totally fall through in this next year.
Yet somehow, that thought is kind of appealing because I know God will break my plans only if He has a better plan. Call it what you may—it could be irresponsible, it could be just a selfish desire for risk-taking and adventure—but I’m kind of hoping God tosses out my plans. I want to surrender my future over to Him and see what He wants to do with it instead.
So now every night feels like Christmas Eve: I don’t know what is going to happen or what I’m going to get, and it keeps me awake with excitement at night. Faith like a child I suppose?
